  Apple farming in India is concentrated in the northern hilly regions, where the climate and soil are suitable for apple cultivation. Some of the major apple farming areas in India are:




  Himachal Pradesh: This state is the largest producer of apples in India, accounting for more than 85% of the country's total apple production. The major apple growing districts of Himachal Pradesh are Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Mandi and Solan.


  Jammu and Kashmir: The state is the second largest producer of apples in India, accounting for about 10% of the country's total apple production. Major apple growing districts in Jammu and Kashmir are Anantnag, Baramulla and Pulwama.


  Uttarakhand: The state is also known for its apple orchards with major apple growing districts being Dehradun, Nainital and Pithoragarh.


  Arunachal Pradesh: This northeastern state is known for high quality apples, with Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng being the major apple growing districts.


  Nagaland: The state is also known for apple cultivation, with Kohima and Phek being the major apple growing districts.


  Other apple farming producing regions in India include the states of Sikkim, Meghalaya and Manipur.
